Major cryptocurrency exchanges Binance and Huobi have announced support for the Steem (STEEM) community’s hard fork to create the new Hive network.
Binance CEO Changpeng ‘CZ’ Zhao is distancing himself from Tron founder Justin Sun over what has been described by some as a ‘hostile takeover’ of the Steem blockchain.
Huobi claims to have been told by Sun that the Steem network “was at immediate risk of an attack” that would directly impact the exchange’s clients’ assets.
The apparent coup was facilitated by Binance, Huobi, and Poloniex, who staked enormous numbers of STEEM tokens to vote in support of removing the previous witnesses.
